Spring is on My Mind Part 2

I'm still optimistic that spring will be here soon.

Here's a few more that will be part of my March display at River City Gallery in La Crosse.

Spring is on My Mind

Focusing on my next display at River City Gallery. Thinking Spring, it isn't hard to imagine when the temperatures have begun to rise above freezing. Here's a sneak peek at what's to come, with a little new twist to some of my paintings showing off that glimmer of hope in gold and silver.

The sun will be shining even longer come day light savings time. Changing in just another month on March 13.

Love It-Giveaway-Happy Valentine's

It was fun to see the submissions from my contest. Since each was worthy of a painting, everyone was a winner. Six submissions gave me a chance to share my love of painting. Each one posed a different challenge and that's just what was needed to make these cold winter days fly by.

My top picture for an 8x10 painting was from Victoria B. of her backyard view. It struck me right away the wonderful atmosphere of the mist in the distance. I've titled the paintings but they may certainly change them to something more personal.

One of Jody's getaways is Sleepy Hollow, she's quite the explorer getting out and walking the bluffs and valleys. This cabin is a real hidden treat I've heard.

The La Crosse River Marsh offers a respite for nature and Amy caught this pair of Beavers along the Grand Crossing Trail. What a moment to have enjoyed.

You may have seen Stacy and Gordo enjoying the McGilvray Trail of 7 Bridges. Even during the rain it's a great day to be out for a walk.

Love doing cats, especially this one. Lynne sure knows how to spoil Ellie.

There's nothing truer blue than a morning glory. Garden flowers are always a welcome sight at Kalla's.

A visit to the Pablo Center

Eau Claire, WI has a premier events center for the arts, downtown along the river. The Pablo Center a perfect venue for the work of  La Crosse's artists-Lynn Hobart.

The drawing group made the journey and we were delighted to have Lynn step us through her thoughts and stories behind each piece. Another group members, printer and poet Lynne Burgess, words inspired by the artwork were read while viewing.

The combination of the two made for a very powerful presentation.

Lynn Hobart's show The Space Surrounding Us will be up until the end of the month by appointment.

From the program-By eliminating clutter and focusing on the most essential lines, Lynn Hobart offers figurative work that is starl and honest. Influenced by her surroundings and compelled by a sense of storylines. Hobart distils the human form and nature to its essence.

Curated by Rose Dolan-Neill

It is very compelling work and I've included a couple of my favorites. Thanks for sharing Lynn always so much fun to see what you'll draw next.

Found this painting I did of the the two of them and thought how appropriate to share with this posting.

I snuck a photo of them while we were on a drawing outing and later made the painting.

Three Little Fishies

Each year in anticipation of warmer weather we get another fishing license. It's not like we catch any but the chance to get out near the water and cast a hopeful line is all I need. I even like watching people fish.

These three little fishies are my first actual paintings of fish. Maybe not 100% accurate but I enjoyed trying to capture the beautiful colors of their scales and eyes.
