More Driftless Wonders Part 2 at Myrick Park Center Gallery

So please to announce that I was invited to continue my exhibit of Driftless Wonders through May at the Myrick Park Center.

Below are the paintings on display from February to March. Featuring a few of my favorite places that make living in the Driftless Region special. From downtown La Crosse, Riverside Park along the Mississippi River and the spectacular International Gardens to our very own downhill skiing with Mount La Crosse. Plus a look back at Myrick Park duck pond remnants.

For April thru May you see a selection of my collection of paintings of the Trempealeau Wildlife Refuge featuring grasses. The full show will be displayed at Elmaro Vineyard and Winery in the Crush Pad during June.

A reception is scheduled for Wednesday May 3, 6-8pm for the last month of my display.

Artists Comments– Colleen Shore

While attending UW-La Crosse for Art, I began to learn what makes the Driftless area so special.  The La Crosse River Marsh was my first exposure to the wonders of the area. As a student, the trails were my own backyard to escape from my studies and discover the natural  world around me.

My connection to the area runs long and wide like the Mississippi. In my retirement in Onalaska, I’m creating art inspired by my surroundings  in order to connect and engage others to embrace the extraordinary.

A portion of the Myrick Park Center Gallery  sales will be donated to the Friends of the La Crosse River Marsh and WisCorps. My thanks to those who are working at conserving our natural resources.

Paintings inspired by the La Crosse River Marsh are now on display at Turtle Stack Brewery, 125 2nd st., La Crosse for February thru March 2023.

Winter Mornings at the Refuge

I had a meeting early December at the Trempealeau Refuge so I had an excuse to get there early for some photos. Since the days were shorter I didn't have to be up too early to catch the sun as it rose to welcome the new day.

Here's a couple of painting inspired by that day. I've been playing with cold wax in the oil for the new year. It's very sticky and kinda icky but the results are very different for blending and creating texture.

These will be on display at Elmaro in June. Any questions cshoreartwork@gmail.com

Working on my Grasses

In anticipation of some of my upcoming shows, I've been focused on the prairies and grasslands in our area. Specifically the Trempealeau National Wildlife Refuge.

I often make it a stop when traveling to Winona or before a visit to Perrot State Park or Elmaro Winery. Each season offers something different in color and texture.

Here;s just the beginning of my studies of this unique landscape that will be featured at my show in June at Elmaro and maybe a few more venues in the next year.

A Peak at Past Kinstone Events

Here's a Few More...

I'm ahead, getting things ready for 2023 exhibits. What else is there to do when you're snow/iced in.

Here's a few that will be on display, unframed, at Kinstone, beginning with their Spring Open House in May. Usually the first Sunday.

check it out at www.kinstonecircle.com or follow on facebook search for Kinstone

I've been going there for the last couple of years during their open houses in Spring and Fall to paint plein air. When I'm in the studio I paint from photos. Kristine Beck has graciously allowed me to paint from some of her photos. She's a wonderful photographer and has captured so many moments at her place that I would have missed. From the resident cats to the special events she hosts.

Thanks for sharing and the inspiration of the paintings KB
