Farewell to the Fallen

End of the Day 5x7 oil

The Way We Were 5x7 oil

Last month the road into Apple Valley was dramatically changed forever. Two big cottonwood trees that formed a gateway into the neighborhood were taken down. We saw the signs, trees marked in spray paint then all of a sudden the crews showed up and it was over..

Many were shaken, shocked and disturbed by the removal of these 100 year old sentinels. Fortunately some residents had fond memories and shared their photos. Of course I had to do a couple of paintings.

Farewell to the trees who give us our memories.
