Sunday, March 3 last day at Blue Heron Coffeehouse

I had a great time showing my work at Blue Heron Coffeehouse in Winona. It was a wonderful experience.

Thanks for coming to my show "You Are Here". I will be hanging around on Sunday at the coffeehouse from noon until they close at 2pm. I've reached out to many who have purchases and look forward to seeing them if they choose to pick up art that day.

I'll be dehanging on Monday, March 3. Next show is a wonderful artist I've met through plein air painting. Naomi Tiry Salgado, she will be having her reception Friday, March 8. Be sure to put it on your calendar.

Here's a few of my paintings still available for purchase.

Counting Down

Today's the last day for the 100th Anniversary of the Refuge art exhibit at the Pump House. Hope you were able to stop by. It started with a wonderful reception in January with artwork by six artists and ended with the performance of Will Dilg. If you didn't make the performance, good news, the next stop for Will Dilg is in Lansing, IA March 9.

Thanks again to the Friends of Pool 7 and 8 and the Pump House..

There's more to come with celebrations all year. Next weekend March 2 the Upper Missisippi Refuge in Onalaska has events celebrating Wisconsin's own Aldo Leopold as well as The Nature Place in La Crosse.

Here's my homage to Aldo Leopold- a painting that will be at my next exhibit this May at Elmaro Vinyard and Winery in Trempealeau, called Feathered Friends.

Where's Aldo? I'm Back 11x14 oil on cradled panel

There's a story behind this painting and a few more that I'm working on.

Finding Gold

Yet to be titled 8x10 oil

A recent outing with family to Wabasha, MN for a Golden Eagle birding trip.

Along with 50 other people we ventured from the National Eagle Center to the blufflands of Western Wisconsin. Happily with scopes and binoculars and the aid of professional spotters we saw at least 4 Golden Eagles some flying and one perched in a tree. The distance was too great to get photos of live Golden Eagles but I did get this skull that was presented during our orientation by the leader of our pack.

This painting will be part of my upcoming display "Feathered Friends" at Elmaro Vineyard and Winery in May in the Crush Pad.

Watch for more bird paintings to come.

A couple weeks left at the Blue Heron Coffeehouse in Winona

For the Love of Lotus

Last Lotus 8x10 oil

During my opening  reception at Blue Heron Coffeehouse I drew Michelle C. name for a personal commission painting.

The image she shared with me was of lotus on their last legs in the Trempealeau Refuge. I enjoyed the limited palette of blues and golds. Thanks for sharing Michelle. In a couple of weeks it will be dry enough to deliver.

Happy Valentines Day!

Still time to see my show at Blue Heron Coffeehouse in Winona.

Unique Gifts from under the Tree

These three found their way under the tree this past holiday season. I didn't want to post earlier since some gatherings for the holidays were also in January. Bruce commissioned the furry family members for their caretakers. Lots of fun since each has it's own personality.

 If you're interested---Pet Portraits/Commission Pricing

Always a pleasure to capture the memories of peoples pets. Commissions accepted, portraits are from  customer photos done in my studio.

Here are the details.

Pet Portrait pricing starts at $50 for a 5x7 (unframed)-small but ok for head shots, $75 for an 8x10 (unframed)- great for a single pet. $125 for an 11x14 (unframed). For each additional pet in the portrait add another $25. Shipping is extra (if needed) and generally runs, $8-$20 dollars in the U.S. depending on the location. These are common sizes allowing you to purchase ready made frames. Keep in mind no glass or matting needed for an oil painting. Cradle panels run more but do not need a frame.

Please allow 4-8 weeks to complete.

The process includes the time to confer back and forth plus the time to dry. I work from your photograph, keep in mind photos that show a clear face and eyes, plus represent the colors of fur make for a better portrait. Exotic pets are also welcome.
