Waiting for the Blues, May at Trempealeau Refuge

May is my favorite time to get out and paint at the Trempealeau Refuge, to capture the blues of Wild Lupine. Hope to see you there.

Blue Spires of Lupine 11x14 oil framed $350

On display through May for Bees and Blooms at Holmen Area Community Center,  600 N. Holmen Drive, Holmen, WI.

Here's a look at past Lupine paintings, all have found their place in homes.

My article and images, originally published in the spring 2026 issue of The Prairie Promoter, a publication created by The Prairie Enthusiasts.
