December Getting out There

My first ever plein air painting in the winter. Well actually it was the last day of fall by the solar calendar. The new snow and sunny skies made me eager to give it a try. I had a lunch date with friends at Red Pines on Brice Prairie and decided to attempt to paint before hand.

I only lasted an hour as my hands got too cold. Reminder to pick up hand warmers. I tried keeping warm with my delicious hot chocolate from the Red Pines Cafe. But as the sun went behind clouds the chill would eventually overtake my paint and my brush strokes. I got to hand to those that do winter plein air. Plus those that do ice fishing. Maybe I need one of the fishing shacks with a window.

I think I'll give it another try as it's my way of getting outside and getting some fresh air for the winter months.

I did a lot more painting on this one in the studio. But the inspiration was onsite and got some color notes to go by.
