Goose Island Retreat 8x10 oil |
Started on site, plein air but completed in the studio.
It was a mild day and I had planned to meet an old friend Jayne for lunch in Stoddard. So if I was going that way I mine as well take my paints with me and make a plan to stop and paint.. This time, my second attempt at painting outside in the winter I was a little more prepared. My new pochade box in smaller and I can paint with it on my lap. I just had to remember a chair. Also I invested in some of hand warmers, those air activated sacks. Well I lasted at least 2 hours and then my hands needed a break.
I got some good color notes and the main points so I could finish up at home in my studio when the tingling in my hands was over.
I also had a wonderful lunch catching up on the old days and making plans for future meetups.
So serene! I do love your description and details of how you are doing the winter solstice outdoor painting while we have mild temps.
