Washed Ashore 11x4 framed oil and cold wax-entry Open Class PAGM

 On my last day at Sugarloaf along the North Shore in Minnesota I painted these using cold wax with my oil. The waves were acting up so it was time to play around and see if I could catch the action. Doing plein air with cold wax is a little more difficult but I thought I'd give it a try. I always like the textures and blending that results.

After my trip ended family encouraged me to to enter the Open Class Competition at the Plein Air Grand Marais. So this is my entry Washed Ashore. Open class allows for one painting and luckily artist friend Linda Klabo agreed to transport my entry up to Grand Marais for this weeks showing.  Wish I could have gone myself but previous commitments conflicted. So think of my painting on Wednesday from 5-7pm it will be on display with so many great paintings by awesome artists. Hoping of course for a win and some recognition but just entering is rewarding for me. No wins but thankful for the support of my artwork.

 

Below another oil and cold wax done from my impression of all the sunrises along the lake shore. Had some extra colors on my palette so mine as well use them up before I cleaned up and packed up to return home
