Overlooking Onalaska

Thaw on the Lake 8x10 oil and cold wax

Still Frozen 8x10 oil and cold wax 

 A couple of weeks ago I had the timing just right for a few photos from the overlook in Onalaska. The sun was just setting and the combination of ice and open water make for some interesting reflections


Naturally I had to interpret them into paintings. Hope you enjoy. The weather is changing fast and I still waiting for that first spring green to finish my series of refuge paintings in the seasons.

Photos taken Saturday April 1st from the same overlook. No foolin', hundreds of Pelicans. At first glance it looked like snow.
