Just got home from Plein Air Duluth along the shores of Minnesota. Outdoor Painters of Minnesota organized a long weekend of locations for over 40 artists to gather and create. It culminated with a display and reception at The Great Lakes Academy of Fine Art.
Here are some of my paintings-
Lake Superior Zoo-A fun challenge was to paint. I found a willing subject the Great Horned Owl for my model.

Another animal that was just hanging around in the nocturne exhibit were the bats. This one I did in the studio. The red lights help make them more comfortable and give unique coloration.

Canal Park - Duluth, a city port on Lake Superior offers lighthouses, ships and sunrises at Canal Park. After a brief rain cleared the fire smoke, skies cleared for an opportunity to paint.

Park Point Beach-A perfect summer day to enjoy the sun and sand. Since sand was everywhere before and after I added a few grains to the paint for a bit of terroir.

Glensheen Mansion-OPM arranged for artists to paint at the beautiful grounds of the local mansion.
This was Clara's personal space to do her plein air painting which resonated with me to be my subject matter.. The property will be hosting a display form the days gathering through September.
